GM Begins Selling Its Assets

After filing for bankruptcy, GM reached deals to sell vehicle brands Saturn and Hummer as part of its restructuring. Saturn will be sold to racing legend Roger Penske and his Michigan-based automotive group while Hummer will go to the China-based Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Company.


Treasurys Fall with Unemployment Claims
Treasurys fell this week following a reported decline in the number of Americans collecting unemployment benefits. The decline in jobless claims led economists to suggest that the U.S. economy may be headed closer to recovery.

Bond yields have risen in the past week and mortgage rates are climbing higher according to Freddie Mac's weekly mortgage survey. The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage (FRM) averaged 5.29%, up from last week when it averaged 4.91%.
