Congress Passes "Energy, Education and Health Care" Budget
By a 233 to 193 vote in the House and a Senate vote of 53 to 43, Congress passed the 2010 fiscal budget for America. While the budget is not legally binding, particularly in the Senate, it creates a very strong indicator of the final tax and spending result for 2010.


Market Largely Unaffected by Chrysler Bankruptcy

News that Chrysler will file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy left the market largely unaffected this week. The Dow ended about 17 points lower on Thursday following President Obama's confirmation of the Chrysler bankruptcy reports.


Fed Keeps Federal Funds Rate near Zero

The Federal Reserve ("Fed") indicated this week that it may step-in and purchase Treasury and mortgage investments to further stabilize the economy.


Long-term Mortgage Rates at Record Lows

The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage reached a record low this week, tying with the low reached earlier in April. The 30-year mortgage averaged 4.78%, down from last week when it averaged 4.80%.
