Thanks
from a recent scholarship recipient...
To
the Mitchell Scholarship Fund,
Thank
you so much for awarding me a scholarship from your fund. You have no
idea how much this money will help me in preparing to return for my
second year of college! I generally save up a little money from my
job to pay for any surprise expenses that may come up, but I've
gotten fewer hours so far, knocking my savings down to nearly zero.
The
money I receive from this scholarship will be put towards the
purchase of a new computer. My old one finally gave out at
the end of last year, thankfully it made it through finals! As
we all know, computers are not cheap - this gracious award will
make the financial burden on me and my family that much easier.
I
know there must have been so many students applying for scholarships,
I feel so lucky to have been chosen. Once again thank you so much for
this award. I am extremely grateful for this assistance and my family
will be too!
Thank
You!!

Social Security Checks Will Soon Be Retired
Dear Savvy Living,
"I've heard that the government is about to do away
with paper Social Security checks and make direct deposit mandatory.
Is this true? I've always liked getting my retirement checks in the
mail. Besides, I don't have a bank account for direct deposit. What
can you tell me?"

I don't know
about you, but all I keep hearing about is the World Cup! I
guess somewhere along the way soccer became a big sport in
America. :)
As a native
Hoosier, I've always love basketball, but now that the Colts are part
of the mix, I'm really looking forward to the next football season as
well.
But, you can't
count out the good 'ole pasttime of basesball. My 10-year-old
son plays minor league, so we are out at the baseball field almost
every night of the week.
The bottom line
is that sports like soccer, basketball, football, baseball, and even
golf give children an opportunty to do something productive with
their time, learn about teammwork, practice leadership, and get some
healthy excercise to boot.
Sports are great
for all of us! If you, too, see the impact that sports can make
on our kids and in our community, take an opportunity to support one of our sports-related funds held at the Community Foundation. There
are plenty to choose from and they all help us build a better quality
of life in Grant County.
Thanks, Peace
and Blesssings,
