Community Foundation Provides Leverage to Donors

The Community Foundation of Grant County is pleased to announce a Matching Grant Program

Donations totaling between $100 and $4,000 made to new or existing endowments will be matched at a 1:4 ratio, per donor, as a way to leverage your charitable dollars.

(See table below for minimums and maximums.)

The match will apply to donations made between  May 4, 2010 and December 31, 2010 or until the $25,000 matching cap is committed, whichever comes first.

Plus, a $4,000 donation with our $1000 match would  allow you or your family to start your own named endowment at the Foundation.  Call us at 765.662.0065 for more information.  Increase your charitable deductions, improve the quality of life in Grant County, and make your money work for you all at the same time!
 That's a good investment!

How to Choose a Walker

Dear Savvy Living,

What can you tell me about volunteer vacations? It sounds like a fun and interesting way to travel but at age 59 I have some concerns.

Should Banks Pay a TARP Tax?

During the financial crisis in October of 2008, Congress passed the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act. Part of that Act created the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) with a $700 billion fund for loans to banks.

Kraft Foods Reports Strong Income Growth

Kraft Foods Inc. reported strong first-quarter results this week. The company said that the results were driven by solid operations and momentum across all of its sales regions.

Treasury yields fell to a low for the year this week following continued turmoil in the European economy related to the debt woes of Greece, Spain and Portugal. The European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet's statement that the bank has not discussed the purchase of government bonds fueled worries that there is no solution for the debt-laden countries.

This week, Freddie Mac reported mortgage rates at the lowest level in a six-week period. The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage (FRM) averaged 5.00%, down from last week when it averaged 5.06%.

Dear Sherrie ,

Extra, Extra, Read All About It!  I hope you all got a chance to read a copy of our fresh-off-the-press Annual Report.

Many folks received their own copy at the Annual Meeting, others got a copy in the Mother's Day issue of the Chronicle-Tribune, and some even viewed it on our website by clicking here(If you need a paper copy, just send me an email at dbrown@comfdn.org.)

No matter how you get your copy, please take some time to review it.  I cannot express how blessed we are to work with such generous donors and financial advisors.  Our board and staff worked diligently to wisely distribute $2.2M back into Grant County via grants, scholarships, and program income.

I think you'll be impressed at what your Community Foundation accomplished last year.  And, with your help, we will be able to make a significant impact again next year as well.

 Thanks, Peace and Blesssings,
