Community Foundation
Celebrates
25th Anniversary by Giving Away
$25,000
On May 21, 2009, the
Community Foundation of Grant County held our Annual Meeting and
celebrated our 25th Anniversary.
In honor of our anniversary, we held a drawing where five (5) lucky
winners directed $5000 to any new or existing endowment held at the
Foundation.
The winners and their chosen fund recipients:
Larry Myers - Larry chose to allocate his
$5000 to a well-established fund held at the Foundation: The
Family Service Society Fund. This fund provides general and
program support to all of the many wonderful things Family Services
does in our community.
Rita LeFavour - Rita chose to place her
winnings into the LeFavour Family Scholarship Fund in Memory of
Rebecca LeFavour Brankle. Established in 2005, this fund
will continue to benefit a Lakeview Christian School graduate in the
form of a scholarship each year.
Nancy Bryant - Nancy, a librarian at the Gas
City Public Library, chose to start a new endowment for the
Imagination Library. This fund will support the Grant County
Imagination Library effort which provides a book to all enrolled
Grant County children from birth to age five (5). Once signed
up, each child receives a book in the mail each month. Anyone
interested in signing a child up for this program should visit their
local library.
Anita Moulton - Anita and her husband Robert,
a retired police officer, opted to use their $5000 to start a new
scholarship for children of police officers. The new Robert and
Anita Moulton Scholarship Fund will begin granting scholarships at
the end of the next school year.
Lilly Crayton - After much thought, Lilly
decided to allocate $5000 to a scholarship fund for a Grant County
graduate pursing secondary education or trade school. The fund
will be named in honor of a very special lady: The NAACP Flossie
Bailey Scholarship Fund.
Anyone may donate to these funds or one of our other 250 funds held
at the Foundation by calling us at 765.662.0065 or by visiting our
website at www.comfdn.org to donate online.
