Estate
Exemption - $3.5 Million or $1 Million?
"Taxes, taxes, taxes," exclaimed Bill. I pay income taxes,
capital gains taxes and now I understand I have to pay death taxes.
But I can't figure out how much I pay. Will I be taxed on an estate
over $3.5 million? Will the tax be repealed entirely?
Savvy Senior
Choosing
Assisted Living
Dear Savvy Senior,
A friend of mine was telling me recently about an article she read in
the USA Today a while back about assisted living facilities and
mistakes that have been made with people living there. My brother and
I are thinking about an assisted living center for Mom - she's 80 and
she is starting to need some help.

Promotes "America's Healthy Future Act"
On September 16, 2009, Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus
released the America's Healthy Future Act of 2009.
The comprehensive health reform bill had been long-anticipated. Sen.
Baucus and the "gang of six" senators had been working on a
bipartisan health care bill for nearly one year.

Palm Reports
Losses Even with Pre
While Palm stock received a momentary bump in June
with the introduction of the new Pre phone, this wasn't enough to
keep the PDA maker in the black for the first quarter.

Investing In/Selling Back U.S. Debt
The U.S. has auctioned off billions of dollars in Treasurys to
generate cash for the federal economic recovery program. Weekly data
shows that foreign central banks and investors have purchased a large
percentage of the U.S debt auctioned off in recent months.
Rates Down for
Third Week
Freddie Mac reported long term rates dropping again for the third
consecutive week. The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage (FRM) averaged
5.04%, down from last week when it averaged 5.07%.
