Jenny's Heroes - Community
Grant Program
Talk show host and philanthropist Jenny Jones has
established the Jenny's Heroes community grant program that
awards grants (up to $25,000) to individuals who submit the
best ideas for tangible, lasting community projects that have
long-term benefits.
Through the 50 grant recipients so far, funds have been used to
provide items and services such as library books, school computers,
firefighting gear, nursing home upgrades, sports equipment, free
dental services, wheelchairs, coats for children in domestic violence
shelters, and a running track at a women's prison. The program's
focus is primarily on smaller communities where fundraising can be
difficult.
Eligibility: They only consider applications from everyday citizens
with a personal desire to improve their community. They do not
give grants to social service agencies. The deadline is open.

25 in 25
The Community Foundation of Grant County has an
exciting new idea for National Philanthropy Day on Friday, November
13th.
In celebration of our 25th year serving Grant County, we are
launching an online giving campaign.
Donations totaling between $250 and $1000 made to a new or existing
endowment at the Foundation will be matched at a 1:4 ratio as a way
to leverage your charitable dollars as a donor.
The match will apply to donations made between 12:00 a.m. Friday,
November 13th through 1:00 a.m. Saturday, November 14th or until the
$5000 cap is committed, whichever comes first. So, plan to make
your donation early in this 25 hour campaign opportunity.
Donations can be made at www.comfdn.org by clicking Donate Now.
(However, we will also accept donations that come into our office
between 8 and 4 on Friday, November 13th.)
So, plan to increase your charitable deductions, improve the quality
of life in Grant County, and make your money work for you all at the
same time. And, tell all of your friends, too!

Personal Planner
Gifts
to Children
Many
questions arise when we consider the options for giving to children.
Why should we give? When, what and how should we give? Will gifts
impact the self-esteem and initiative of the child? Can a gift plan
transfer values to children?

Auto Aids That Can Help Senior Drivers
Dear
Savvy Senior,
I've heard that there are different gadgets or devices you can buy
for your car that can help older drivers. I've lost a lot of
flexibility over the years and have a hard time getting in and out of
my car, and my wife struggles with arthritis in her hands which
causes her some problems too.
